30 ways to keep fit in summer - 3# Water Balloon Fights

This seems silly I know, and it kind of is, but this is a brilliant way to get your heart racing without really knowing you are!

Some people are really lucky. I know a girl who was addicted to running and had to stop because she was loosing too much nutrients in her body’s system because she over ran… okay, so maybe she’s not so lucky… but some people just LOVE to run.

I do love a good jog myself but it’s hard. I prefer to exercise without knowing I’m exercising and this is a brilliant way to do it!

Water Balloon Fighting works out the following:
1. Your Arms: you have to throw all those water balloons are your unsuspecting foe
2. Your Legs: Running away after you manage to hit one of your foes with a water balloon
3. Your Stomach: As you duck from all the poor throws people attempt.

All the running and jumping and dodging really works on your cardio and you don’t have to count kilometres or calories!

All you have to do is have some childish, old-fashioned fun

Exercise 101 - Weekly Challenge

So this week I’m going to set you a challenge that I can’t do yet!
It’s going to be painful, exhausting but oh my god you’re body is going to love you forever

It starts by standing up and jumping straight into the air, like doing a pin drop.
When you land, precede to squat down, and then place your legs behind you like you’re about to do a push up. Then pull your legs up back to the squat and jump up straight in the air again.

This is done really quickly, so you’re jumping then planking then jumping then planking.

So do this 10 times without stopping then break for 30 seconds, and repeat 5 times.
Have fun with this, you’ll need a good humour to push through!

Going for a jog for an hour!

Will write the weekly exercise routine when I get back, expect to be working on your thighs! xxx P.J

30 ways to keep fit in summer - 2# Fruity Ice Poles

In order for you to maintain your fitness or get any results from all the exercise you should be doing, you must eat healthily. You might have heard some people throwing around the fact that weight loss is “80% diet and 20% exercise” around and that is partly true however, that doesn’t mean you start curbing the carbs or cutting down on the red meat. I guerentee that if you do at least 1 hour of fitness everyday, and eat a diet with no processed sugars in it, you will be as fit as you possibly can be.

So, for those of you who love sweet things this delish snack is the perfect summer treat. Packed in with more than enough serves of fruit, these icey poles are actually so brilliant I can’t contain myself. They’ll have the same effect on your taste buds as a smoothie would but don’t contain any fatty ice creams or dairy products making them a healthy go-zone treat.

Here’s my recipe to make perfect icey-poles:
1 cup (250ml) of cut up strawberries
1/2 a cup (125ml) of orange juice
1/2 a cup (125ml) of pineapple juice
1 cup (250ml) of cut up watermelon
1 trays worth of ice cubes  or crushed ice cubes
*You’ll need a blender for this recipe

Steps:
1. Put all ingredients into the blender.
2. Secure the blender lid, place blender on high. Mix until blended into a thick mixture or well combined.
3. Pour mixture into small cups - shot glasses are sometimes good, but plastic cups are preferred rather then glass. If you have icey-pole sets use them!
4. Stick a paddle-pop stick into the centre of each cup and place in the freezer until mix is frozen then slide ice poles out of cups and enjoy!

You can also make ice cubes using fruit juices or blended fruit but simply pouring the liquid into the ice cube containers.

Eat sweet xx P.J

This is THE BEST THING EVER! Put it on your phone as your home screen, or just as an image and when you’re in that uber craving mood, whip it out and you’ll avoid that “oh my god why did I eat that full tub of ice cream” feeling and instead have that “I’m feeling really good about today!” one.Avoid raisins though because their sugar content is extremely high and they aren’t as good for you as grapes
I say, when in doubt, eat fruit.

30 ways to keep fit in Summer - 1# Surfing

If you, like me, are surrounded by surf culture then you’ll understand what I’m talking about when I say that surfers are hot. Surfer boys, doesn’t matter if their face is weird, have amazing bodies and they all radiate a healthy glow that comes from heaps of vitamin D, fresh air and a hell of a lot of exercise.

Surfing takes a lot of work, balance and stamina, much like boxing but without the quick zaps of adrenaline. It works out your arms, stomach and legs constantly leaving you with aching mussels the next day but it’s all worth it.

If you can’t surf, don’t worry! It’s not too hard to learn and gets easier and easier to do.
Go to your local surf-lifesaving club and ask where you can get lessons.

Be careful where you surf because water safety is always important and you don’t want to drown!

But this really is a perfect workout for summer, so take advantage of the sunny days!

Hello, I’ll start off this blog by posting my body of this moment. I’m a typical “pear shaped” body, so my hips are wide and my ass is quite chunky. Physically, my body is alright, it’s not model skinny and never will be. I don’t resent that at all. I never really had a problem with my body shape as such until it started to be a problem for my health. Like a lot of other pear-shape lovelies, I put on weight around my mid section, meaning I’m more prone to heart disease. This worries me a lot so I decided I needed to get fitter. Plus! Fitness releases endorphines in your brain, which are chemicals that make you naturally happy or give you a natural high (this happens with bananas and chocolate too) So instead of getting “Thin” like all my friends (who are obsessing over their bodies after a long winter), I’m getting fit! THIS IS NOT A “THINSPIRATION” BLOG. I don’t appreciate them or the bodies they achieve. This blog is more about general wellbeing then body image and a healthy body equalling a healthy mind. Here you’ll find weekly exercise challenges and stretches to help tone the parts of your body you want to target. There’ll be profiles on your body shape and how to dress for it, eat for it, and work out with it to get the best results (yes, even you column girls). There’ll also be diet help and any questions, submit above. Stay fitP. J xx
